Re-Constriction: We Hardly Knew Ye

Re-Constriction
of the “Pulp Fiction” soundtrack featuring industrial covers and re-workings of the film’s samples by Society Burning’s Dave Creadeau.

Soon enough, people started referring (nastily) to Re-Constriction as “she-constriction”, as Chase started releasing female-fronted industrial bands. Bands like Purr Machine, Collide, Waiting For God, and Hexedene had pushed other bands like Society Burning and Tinfed down the roster. The end was nigh for Re-Constriction.

In 1996, a few last CD’s trickled out of Re-Constriction: a remixed and added-to version of H3llb3nt’s first album, “Helium”, a Mission U.K. tribute album, “Songs From The Wasteland”, and a new cover CD, the sequel to “Shut Up Kitty”, “Nod’s Tacklebox O’ Fun”. There were no great death-throes. Re-Con died quietly.

The reasons behind Re-Constriction being dismantled were simple enough. Chase couldn’t support a family on the money he (or the label) was making. He was married and looking out for his future… He hadn’t gotten into the industry for the money, but now he had more to look out for than the fans and his own amusement. Sadly, he closed down Re-Constriction.

Somewhere deep inside, I hope some day Chase will come back and start releasing music again. All the other labels are gone, except Metropolis, ever churning out the same electro albums. We sure could use him now.

We miss you.
