The online world has become a haven for fans of genre entertainment to go nuts and exercise their creativity with their favorite characters. Star Wars dominates the Internet with fan fiction and fan films because the universe it is set in is ripe with all kinds of characters to play around with. Fans of Indiana Jones have taken notice and have ignited their own campaign of Internet fan films to show their appreciation of the character and films.

While Indiana Jones fan films certainly don’t match the quantity and quality (and there are some you’d think were professionally done) of Star Wars fan films, they are certainly worth checking out.

“Doom Raiders” has yet to premiere on the Internet but there is a trailer for the film available for download. The film depicts an encounter and possible love story between Indiana Jones and Lara Croft from “Tomb Raider.” The gist I get from the trailer is a place where a person’s body and soul can live forever has been found. There is no explanation to why the two characters meet but you don’t really care. It’s fun to see that team-up because Lara Croft is obviously influenced by Indiana Jones.

The film looks like it has a lot of action in it. The filmmakers certainly put a lot of work into it and it looks like they had fun doing it. The music in the trailer is a bit weak. It’s too synthesized. It sounds like music from a video game, but it may just be temporary for the trailer and different music could be used for the actual film. Some of the fight and action scenes seem too staged also but, again, you don’t really care. This isn’t meant to be taken seriously. It’s just another outlet for fans to have fun with something they love.

Backyard Productions is the company behind “Doom Raiders.” They describe the film as “…a parody based on all those classic action adventure films like the Mummy, The Jewel of the Nile and of course, the Indiana Jones Trilogy! Set to be bigger and better than any of our previous film projects, it will include both custom sets and location filming, improved casting and a gripping story!”

Backyard Productions is an amateur film production company with bases in Dover, Cambridge, Rotherham and Lincoln (in the UK). They have also produced the fan films “Geriatric Park,” “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Backyard,” and “Batman Returns Forever.”
