In my last article I craft a small list of things that are currently available on the market to buy as gifts for the Indiana Jones fan in your life. I thought I would continue with that theme since it is the holiday season. This article is a “wish list.” Things I would love to see out there with the Indiana Jones name on it.
Indiana Jones trilogy DVD pack – I want to see this more than the fourth film. Load each DVD with trailers, promotional material, ‘making of’ featurettes, etc. I know it will happen, it’s just a question of when. All three films are listed in the top 10 of most requested movies to be put on DVD that aren’t on Amazon.com. Young Indiana Jones on VHS – If VHS is the only format we are going to get, for now anyway, Lucasfilm should release the remainder of the Young Indiana Jones chapters. I love this show. Why market Indy’s life as “chapters” and then not release 10 of those “chapters?” I don’t care if it’s not cost-effective or there isn’t enough interest in Young Indiana Jones to warrant additional releases. It’s been marketed this way, so follow through with it. It’s been over two years since the first 12 were released and no word on the remaining six. Young Indiana Jones on DVD – This also makes sense. Many TV series are being released on DVDs, so there is no reason why this shouldn’t be made available. George Lucas and company should release the rest of the VHS versions first so the set is complete (I collect Indiana Jones things so having both formats doesn’t bother me). These DVDs could also include the “old Indy” bookends that were featured on the television version, something the VHS format does not have. Indiana Jones and the Fourth Film – I know this is extreme wishful thinking, but I could see one more Indy flick. It would be tricky though. If it’s bad, or even mediocre, that means the series ends on a sour note. I know fans don’t want that and neither to do the parties involved with making the film. “Last Crusade” is a great movie, so a fourth film would have to match or top that one. If not, fans will be unhappy. More Indiana Jones toys – I like the Disney toys that were released through the various theme parks, those should be mass-marketed and more toys should be made based on those styles. Plenty of characters to deal with and turn into toys as well as playsets to make. A giant boulder playset, collapsing spike cave playset, the three booby traps in “Last Crusade” playset. The possibilities are endless. Go To Page: 1 2
