Halloween fun with Indiana Jones
* "Professor" Indy. You could also be different and go as Indiana Jones with his scholarly look. Find a gray suit with a black bow tie and glasses and you're set. You could even wear the brown fedora also. It would keep people guessing at a party and it's certainly different. *Props. They make ANY costume. I carry a replica of the fertility idol from "Raiders." Replicas of props from the movies pop up on auctions sites like eBay. However you can find yourself in a bidding war for them and you may find it to be too expensive. Before I got my prop I used a hard skull that I found in a Halloween shop. It cost $5. I just spray-painted it with gold metallic paint. It wasn't an "authentic" prop but the "artifact" certainly fit in with the costume and character. Bullwhips are also easy to come by. Real ones cost hundreds of dollars but any costume shop or Halloween shop should have fake ones that cost under $10. That's what I have. All I could find was a black one so I bought it and spray-painted it brown. I still use it and it works great. Just be creative! I have a brown felt fedora that I wear with my costume and a brown leather jacket. The jacket isn't an authentic one made by the company that provided Harrison Ford's jacket for the movies, but it's brown, leather and serves the purpose. I also wear a gray cotton button down shirt with a shoulder bag, brown belt, brown hiking boots, khaki pants and a gun belt complete with holster and bullwhip. I top that off with three days without shaving to get that stubble look. Now this is the basic look for Indiana Jones but I add to the classic look to make it more interesting and more Halloweenish. Since my jacket is old, I have attached three rubber spiders to the back of it to mimic the scene at the beginning of 'Raiders' where Indiana walks through a giant cobweb and gets a few eight-legged friends stuck to his back. I also have a bag of cobwebs that I bought so I can stretch spider webs around my hat and the back of the jacket. I'd love to hear other Indiana Jones suggestions or stories from Halloween. Every year my costume is a hit. The little additions I made always
