Speed 3

say your printer prints 11 pages per minute (which is 55 pages per 5 minutes). You have just received a 1,000 page book to print off. It will take you at least 90 minutes just for the printing of that book.

Compare that to someone who's invested in a printer that has an output of 45 pages per minute (which is 225 pages per 5 minutes). It will take only 22 minutes to print off that same 1,000 pages. This gives them at least another hour of available time.

Now, also compare the download speed. It used to take me 15 to 20 minutes to download one chapter! Then, I got DSL. It takes less than a minute to download a chapter now! What a major time-saver that is!

I can use that time saved for something else. Usually, I still work at least 40 hours a week, but by getting a DSL connection, my output increased dramatically simply because I spent a lot less time downloading and printing out PDF files.

Now, add to this using appropriate office supplies instead of just making due. I added a comb binding machine because it is much easier (hence faster) to deal with a comb-bound book than a binder. The comb-bound book also has a smaller footprint on my desk, and so I don't have to keep moving things around it.

And speaking of desk, if you're just making due to be cheap, it will also affect your speed. I went from a makeshift desk to one that perfectly fit the way I needed to work. A dramatic increase in comfort and efficiency, leading to being able to work more hours per week. Loved that!!!

If you're marking text, what are you using? Regular pens? Do you use ballpoint pens, which drag on the paper, and wear out your hands and wrists, or so you spring for the more expensive gel pens that flow across the page without the drag?

I learned about this in college, and have never gone back to using a ballpoint. I can write much faster, and hence mark more in a sitting, with a pen that has an excellent flow rather than one that fights with the paper.

Would spending money on various colored highlighters help you? It meant an increase for me. I can just zap the page with the highlighter, and move right along!

Also, what about using various colors of inks and highlighters?
