My friend Leslie...

Greetings!

Welcome to my bi-weekly article about great entertainment images on the Web. This article is going to be covering a few things from popular culture that I was sure everyone knew about. Well, my good friend Leslie told me that she'd never heard of The Creature from the Black Lagoon, Wacky Packages, or Garbage Pail Kids. I was sure that everyone knew about these, but I was wrong. So, just for you people who have never heard of these particular pop culture references, this article should help you out.
A lot of people, when asked to name movie monsters, will name Micheal Myers, Freddy, Jason, and Biff from Back to the Future (or is that one only me?). Well, before those cool guys, there were the true classics. Of course I speak of Frankenstein's monster (commonly called Frankenstein), Dracula, The Wolfman, The Mummy, The Invisible Man, and The Creature from the Black Lagoon. Since my friend has never heard of the last one, he's the one I'll focus on.
During my search for creature content, I came across a great site that will pretty much tell you everything you want to know about our fishy fiend. Since a large portion of the classic monster movies were made by Universal Studios, they have a cool site all about their ghouls. And a section of the site is about The Creature from the Black Lagoon. It has lots of info, as well as some cool pics of the Creature. It's definitely the best site about the Creature! It's not the only site though, and while we're looking for pictures (hey, the article is about images after all), there's also another site that has some black and white pics of the Creature too.
OK, now that I've covered one of Hollywood's classic monsters, let's make a really strange turn in direction. A turn so strange, so utterly bizarre, that it's just plain wacky. One of my favorite things to spend my allowance on when I was little was Wacky Packages. They were stickers of cool bogus products. They took an everyday product, and made a rediculous version of it. These were the old days, when you actually got gum with the stickers! As a matter of fact, I found out that my friend (hi Les!) didn't know about these when I mentioned that I have some still on the cards they came on! Anyway, there are lots of sites about Wacky Packages. Some of the coolest include this awesome gallery of Wacky Stickers, Wackypacks.com, John Mann's Wacky Packages Website, and tons of others. Those are the cool spots I've found, but you can find more just by searching for Wacky Packages. I really wish they still made those great stickers.
