Why Are OHL Fans Ganging Up On The Colts?

Why is everyone ragging on the Colts? Could it be because the Colts are in the upper echelon of the OHL or even the CHL? Is it because they're the fastest expansion team to reach 100 points in a season? Why?

First of all, with Ottawa. Here's the situation. The Colts own 2 private planes (which explains why Barrie can't afford a good marketing guy). Because of the snowstorm, a four-hour drive on the 401 isn't very smart. Why not take the planes? Buttonville's closed. And they couldn't get from Buttonville to Pearson in time to make a flight to Ottawa.

15-0 to Missisauga. Missisauga has a record of 3-54-3 as of Friday night. 'nuff said. But, with the average career of OHLers at 3 years, 3 years from now Barrie could be begging the Dogs for mercy. But with Bert Templeton, that'll be hard.

With that 3-year comment being said, what happens in 3 years if Barrie realigns and the teams are nothing like they are now. If Barrie goes to say the Midwest Division, and everyone in the Central prospers, while everyone in the Midwest suffers, except for Barrie, will everyone be on their case for moving? But aren't these the same people that demanded it.

Next, percentages by division (as of March 5th in the morning):

  • Barrie vs. Central: 19-1-2 (.909%)
  • Barrie vs. East: 11-5-0 (.688%)
  • Barrie vs. Midwest: 10-2-2 (.786%)
  • Barrie vs. West: 6-3-1 (.650%)

We see Barrie has winning records vs. all of them. Let's forget about the west since that would require a lot of juggling and travelling for Barrie. All 5 teams in the East are within a stone's throw of the 401, so let's forget that too. That leaves the Midwest. They could switch with Owen Sound. That means the Midwest record becomes 6-1-1 or a .813% and their Central record becomes 23-2-3 or .875%. Since they play the Midwest more than the Central, they go down slightly, but they still have a huge winning record, and are probably leading the division too.

Or, switch Owen Sound and Missisauga around. Their Central Division record is now 17-2-3 or .841% and their Midwest record is 12-1-1 or .893%. Yes, I realize after all this their winning percentage probably drops overall, but not that significantly.

BTW, is everybody aware of the fact that when Barrie won 15-0 Bert Templeton was in North Bay being inducted to the local Hall of Fame, and starting goalie Brian Finley was sitting out that game?
