OHL Mid-Season ReportHey there hockey crazies. Today's article is today because of the special event running here through all of February starting with February 1. This article is the OHL's Mid-Season Report, where I take a look at my earlier predictions and laugh at myself. Central Division I think I exaggerated a little when I made my predicted standings for this division. I put everyone but Barrie as the bottom 4 teams. Well, if the season ended today, then St. Mike's would get in because of the horrible season being enjoyed by Kingston. Course, that could all change after the major trade between Barrie and Toronto. If there's one change I'll make to this division from earlier this season, Barrie will win the OHL championship. With Sheldon Keefe added to the team along with buddies and linemates Ryan Barnes and Mike Jefferson, what will keep this team from winning the Cup? Sudbury and North Bay have been doing mostly as expected, except they're reversed (North Bay's now ahead), and they're both beating Kingston. Mississauga: HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. That was sarcasm. East Division Even with Patrick Desrochers, Kingston is sinking fast. They have only Mississauga behind them in the Eastern Conference standings, so they don't have much to worry about there. But still, they need to get the fire going. It's a team with a little talent, like Mike Zigomanis, but not much else. As for Oshawa, they're sitting comfortably in a playoff spot with names like Bryan Allen, Kevin Colley and Brent Gauvreau. The rest are mostly no-names (except for Drew Bucktooth, for obvious reasons). Peterborough has been the surprise of the division. Where did they come from, and how did they get there? Course, the race for second is very close in that division with Peterborough ahead of Belleville by 3 points and Oshawa by 6. Ottawa 67's. Nick Boynton. 'Nough said. Midwest Division Almost exactly as I planned, except that Owen Sound is in this thing. And they are second in the division. Brampton is last. Not even the efforts of underage sensation Jason Spezza or overage verteran Brian Barker can help them. Give them a few years and they'll be right up there. For now, this division is going right along as expected, so... West Division Sarnia still has Peter Sarno, but they don't have Patrick Desrochers in goal. Result? Plymouth, with guys like Legwand and Druken, and now Jason Ward, are #1, by a mile. For a long time, London was without Rico Fata. However, they have him back, and they are also ranked 6th in the conference. A very nice number indeed, for them. Sault Ste. Marie is trying to get by, but having a time of it. They are ranked 5th, right where I pegged them. And Windsor is suffering without Peter Sarno or Jason Ward, or anybody else for that matter.
