Montreal Canadiens; Hockey Institution Part 3When the fans rushed out, it was pandemonium. There were fans outside who didn't have tickets who wanted to get in and show Campbell who they were. Upon seeing the mob of fans rushing out (and if you've ever been inside the Forum you'd know how slowly that would be!) They would throw things at the forum damaging bricks and breaking windows. They threw stuff at streetcars, breaking those windows, and then pulling their cables off the wires, halting traffic. Up St. Catherines Street they went. They overturned cars, set a newspaper stand on fire and even threw bricks at shop windows and looted them. All until 3:00 a.m. when the 250 policemen finally calmed down the 10,000 rioting fans. Rocket Richard lost the '55 scoring crown to Boom-Boom Geoffrion, the son-in-law of Howie Morenz, by 1 point. And the Canadiens lost in the Stanley Cup finals what could've been their first of 6 cups in a row. Six in a row? Well, that's how close they were in the Canadiens dynasty.
