Self Hypnosis? In all actuality, all hypnosis is self-hypnosis. The Hypnotherapist is simply a guide on a journey. Everyone has day dreamed; thus, everyone has been hypnotized at one time or another in their lifetime. A good hypnotist will always teach the client to do self-hypnosis, allowing the client to continue their therapy at their own pace. The only limit is the imagination! Have you ever felt so stressed that your mind kept wandering to things other than what you were trying to focus on? This was your mind's own therapy at work. Would you rather picture yourself at work, phones ringing, computers crashing, boss yelling... and so on and so on... or would you rather imagine yourself on a beautiful tropical island, wind blowing through your hair, sun warming your skin... the smell of the salty, sea air wafting by. Imagine yourself now in that peaceful, serene place of your choice. Hear the waves crashing on the shore, the gulls in the air. As you walk across the sand, you can actually feel it warming your feet. You can think of nothing at all... your mind is clear. In the distance, you see a large hammock swinging lazily between two beautiful palm trees. You go over and lay down and begin to gently sway on the breeze... relaxation flooding over your entire body, mind and spirit. And there you are... hypnotized... wasn't so hard, was it? At this point, the hypnotherapist gives you positive messages that travel deep into the subconscious mind. Count to five, come back to the here and now... and the feeling of accomplishment is sometimes overwhelming. Thus is the healing power of Hypnotherapy. So simple, yet so effectual. And the purpose of hypnosis? Unlimited! The typical hypnosis client is seeking an effective relief to the struggles of weight loss, smoking cessation, stress management, pain management, sleep, or phobias. And the list goes on. No drugs, no doctor's offices, no prying psycho babble. A one hour session with the hypnotherapist and continued practice of self-hypnosis in your own home, at your own pace, using your own skills and imagination. The internet is a vast source of information on hypnotherapy and holistic healing. Explore and conquer!
