Munchausen can be fatal and in those homes, the scenarios are much worse but I really did not come this month to report the deaths, I came to report the subtleties of the problem. Symptoms that children who are being raised by parents with Munchausen exhibit are bleeding, seizures, drop in levels of consciousness. Insomnia is rampant in children who are raised by parents like this because they are in constant fear brought on by the mother who constantly watches every moment or every symptom.
The scars last forever and run deep. Won't you try and learn what you can, help where you can, and be there for children who you suspect may need you to see what no one else can. Help today to get a family out of denial of such a horrible problem. How? Care and ask questions. One final thought, what if Jonathan had actually gotten up, taken his wife to the psychiatrist, and told the psychiatrist all that he sees his wife do? Would the children's life had gotten better if Jonathan had not just hung up the telephone for the twentieth time wishing things were different? Do you think this would have helped to prevent more abuse to the children?
