Just what is a phobia, anyway? It is commonly considered to be an "irrational persistent fear of or an excessive avoidance of a specific object, some particular activity or situation." A phobic person might well have an unusual fear response to heights, snakes, bugs, water or a list of over a thousand other things. My intention is to help sufferers see that if they have hypochondria, they may well have phobias that could be cured and then their hypochondria could be lessened and often times, even go away forever. Below is a very large list of phobias. This list is not meant to be exhaustive (although it could be) it is meant, however, to be helpful to those wanting to be able to begin to live a healthy life. So without further ado, the list. Some of the items you will see in this list are also symptoms or problems seen in many different illnesses. The first step here is just to see how many you can circle and be willing to talk to someone about. Once you have circled the fears that apply to you, please make a list and email the list and any questions you might have to RoseMeade at tallnews@aol.com. We can talk together and see what your next step might be.
