Shame In Her Room
'Change' was what I found to be the key to healing of this most debilitating disease. The change was that the more I learned the better my health got. Therefore, it became a mission of mine to become an expert on the subject of hypochondria. Little did I realize that "studying this disease" would be the medicine I needed to bring about my healing that started in 1990. It is my strong belief today that this cure, when shared with others, will become their cure also. Surely, sufferers like me of twelve years ago would like to become wiser about the subject. Most importantly, the goal can become to take action. Visit End a sad lifestyle and lack of quality that comes with living as a hypochondriac by learning more about the disease and share with others about what you learn.

I'd like this first week to introduce you to a very beautiful woman. Let us call her "Shame". Shame is a very proud woman who does not let it show that she is full of self-disgust and fear when she goes out into public. Nevertheless, when Shame is at home, she can be found alone in her lonely room with thoughts that her life would be better if only she could get well. What Shame does let others see is her constant illnesses, her constant pain, her constant worry, and her constant fear. But, then again, to know Shame one might not even realize she is depressed or ill if they did not listen to her or believe her. One might even wish to be like her or look like her; but inside Shame is very busy living a life of horror. Her type of horror is felt and shared by 1000's of people who might not know there is a way out. There is.

This promise, "this way out," came true for me-hence my mission to share with others through Suite101.com how to begin living a vital, exciting, non-fear based life you will want to continue forever. I am hopeful for hypochondriac sufferers today in 2002. I am hopeful that you will, by reading my newsletter each week, begin the wellness process. Or, you will be able to help others who might be suffering from this dis-ease.

Laying out a plan of recovery that is simple to understand can and will be a start for your healing. The same type of healing that Dr. Watts started for me because he did not discount me; Dr. Watts cared and listened. Then Dr. Watts informed me to start learning. Never would I choose to reverse this decision.
