Hypersensitive or a Hypochondriac
Example of what can be meant by the above suggestions: a city child if they were to step on a thorn would probably feel it instantly and scream out unknowingly. A country child who has stepped barefoot on thorns, rocks, etc. would feel only a small amount of discomfort. Then he/she would reach down and pull the thorn out of their foot. They would probably not scream at all. They also might not think of telling someone about the event, much less repeat the event to six other people. The city child (for demonstration sake only) or the hypochondriac with hypersensitive awareness would tell at least six people about the event... and certainly, they would scream out in pain. Give yourself a goal. Pick a day; say Saturday. Tell yourself that all day long on Saturday, when you experience pain, you will try hard not to react to the pain the way you have in the past. Keep the fact that you are in pain (for the one day at least) a secret. Now, I am not in anyway suggesting medically speaking that if you get hurt (such as a cut or broken bone) that you bleed all over the place and tell nobody. The type of pain I am suggesting you try to keep secret for one day, is the hypochondriac pains. The pains you feel every day and for some people, every hour. These are the pains in your back, your feet, your necks, your hands, your knees, etc. These culprits... the headaches of chronic pain sufferers can be kept silent for a while so that you can have a day's peace.
