If you could write a letter to your neurologist or any other doctor involved in your care (while you are at risk, testing, positive, negative, caregiving) what would you tell him or her?
What have you learned that you think you would like to see them implement or not do? What are some things that they have done that have been especially helpful? The reason for this page is because I think that we can assist in bridging a gap that possibly exists between the patient and the professional. Is it the doctor's job to treat the problem or the whole person? Should he or she have resources available that could assist you in finding the help you need for various issues concerning the patient and family? Does it matter if the doctor is warm and kind? Does it make a difference to you? Is it even the doctor's job to care? This page isn't to complain about doctor's. It is set up merely to share our lessons learned, our needs, our victories, our experiences and hopefully make the journey between the medical establishment and patient a more beneficial one. To make this easier for some of you (don't worry nobody will know your name) you can start off - Dear Doctor; and just write. Write what you would say good or bad, just be true to your own feelings and experiences and know that this is simply to be a place where others can learn. I am hoping that many of our wonderful doctors will come in here and spend a little time listening to what others have to say. And maybe we can hear back from some and answer any questions they might have thus making the journey better all around for all of us. So start writing. (You can post your notes under the discussion section under Dear Doctor (or Patient - depending upon who you are writing too).
