Bow Hunting Regulations


Since Bow Hunting is One week away for most states, I am going to give you the regulations.

++ THESE ARE FOR SOME AREAS OF THE USA AND NOT ALL. THIS MAY NOT CONATAIN ALL OF THE REGULATIONS BUT MOST OF THEM.++

Deer, Archery...................Oct. 4 - Nov. 15 & Dec. 26 - Jan. 10, 1998

Archery Requirements:

Antlered (or antlered with proper license): Bow and arrow only with required archery license. Antlered deer with two or more points to one antlered or spike 3 or more inches long. One antlerless deer may be taken with a valid antlered license. One deer per day.

Archery Arms and Ammunition:

Long, recurve and compound bows with broadheads of a cutting-edge design. Persons hunting deer in archery season may NOT possess a firearm of any type.

Archery Season Fluorescent Orange Requirements:

Archers hunting during the overlap (Nov 1-15) with general small game and fall turkey seasons must wear at least 250 square inches of fluorescent orange on the head, chest and back combined while MOVING. An archer may remove the orange and post a band containing at least 100 square inches of the safety color within 15 feet of a tree or ground stand. While archers are not required to display fluorescent orange at other times, it is suggested that the band be placed near their stand.

Antlered Deer (buck)........Dec. 1 - 13

Buck Requirements: (for all deer hunting firearms seasons)

Two or more points to one antler, or spike 3 or more inches long. One antlered (buck) may be taken during a license year.

Antlerless Deer..................Dec. 15 - 17

Requirements:

Special tag required to hunt antlerless deer (doe).

Arms and Ammunition: firearms other than flintlock

Manually operated center-fire rifles, handguns, and shotguns with all lead bullet or ball, or a bullet designed to expand on impact.

Fluorescent Orange Requirements: Buck and Doe

During the regular deer seasons and any extensions of these seasons, ALL hunters must wear at least 250 square inches of fluorescent orange on the head, chest and back combined. (example: a portion of the orange must appear on the cap and coat/vest so as to be visible 360 degrees.)

Deer, Flintlock..................Dec. 26 - Jan. 10, 1998

Requirements:

Hunters must purchase a muzzleloader stamp no later than JULY 31.

**NOTE: An individual purchasing a muzzleloader stamp must give up his or her antlerless (doe) license application.

Hunters with a muzzleloader stamp have the oppertunity to harvest
