Coaches (yellow buses) connect Miskolc with the region. Coach station is in Búza ter next to the public bus station.
The Railway connection is excellent. There is a regular two hourly Intercity connection with Budapest. (200 km distance less than 2 hours) The fare is 2600 Ft ($8,60 July 2001) in first class included seat reservation as well. Miskolc has also direct rail connection with Nyiregyhaza, Debrecen, Sarospatak, Tokaj, Kosice (Slovakia). The main station of Miskolc is Tiszai (named after the former Tisza Railway Co.) were build in 1901 and will be renovated in this year.
The narrow gauge train of Lillafüred (LAEV) was built as an industrial railway serving large factories with raw material. Today this so called 'little train' is one of the most well known tourist attractions of Miskolc. This 14 km long line, with two tunnels, goes along the Garadna stream valley to Garadna. Trains stop at Lillafüred (next to Hotel Palace) and Ujmassa (in front of the reconstructed furnace) as well. The return ticket is 320 Ft ( $1.1 July 2001) In weekends there are also a steam locomotive hauled nostalgia train, where a return ticket is 840 Ft ($ 2.8 July 2001).
