2001 Recap

Sandy McCollum, author of Slices of Northern Life here on Suite 101, has challenged fellow editors to write an article using the titles of past articles. Never one to turn down a challenge (even though I have only three months worth of titles to work with) I hereby contribute my efforts.

It seems like only yesterday that you all bid me Welcome here at Household Tips. Now, here we are with Only 365 Shopping Days 'Til Christmas. It is the end of 2001 and we are ready to Wrap it up in Style! With all of the New Year celebrating everyone will be doing You Don't Need to be Martha! to know when you need a Less Stress Holiday Guide.

If you are wondering What happened to Family Holidays? this year, you just need to look back at what was happening As Summer Ends. We should have been going over our Get Ready for Winter Checklist and planning our Decorating for Fall. Instead, that terrible date and its anniversaries were seared into our memories - 9/11 10/11 11/11 - and I certainly wasn't the only one who found My Personal House in Chaos.

Thank you for making my first months here at Suite 101 enjoyable. I hope you will come back to visit even more often during 2002. I wish you Peace and Joy in the coming year. Happy 2002!

New Year's Party Planning Tips

Additional Party Smart Tips

Hosting a New Year's party assures that you will be with those special people when the Year 2000[sic] begins. PartySmart.com wants to help you, the Party Smart host, to plan a party that is not only fun but safe for everyone. So keep the following tips in mind when serving alcohol at your party:

  • Always serve food, especially high protein foods, which slow the rate at which the body absorbs alcohol.
  • Supply non-alcoholic beverages for your guests too.
  • Stop serving alcohol about one hour before the party is scheduled to end. Emphasize non-alcoholic drinks and high protein food toward the end of the party - only TIME can help someone sober up.
  • If a guest has over-indulged, TAKE the car keys away, call a cab or have a non-drinking guest drive him/her home.

  • Thanks to Traute Klein who put together this list of links to all of the 2001 Recap articles.
