with mildew. What gets rid of this black stuff and why are my plants yellow? I have sprayed them with Epsom salts for magnesium. I plant eggshells in the holes for continuous calcium. I use compost and organic humus. However, my soils still have too much clay. It can't be the soil probably, however, because the ones in pots in potting soil are doing the same thing with the exception of the plants I planted in March. Those are still green and bushier (still not bigger than 8 inches). Maybe it's the variety? I am growing Little Elf, Chocolate Mini Bells, colored Bell mix, Cajun Hot chiles, and Garden Salsa Hot peppers. I'm not sure which ones are which because my son pulled up all my labels. Love your site and your newsletter! You should get you some Green Zebra heirloom tomatoes. I buy weird colored veggies. Your Mr. Stripey looks like Striped Marvel which I do have if I can get it to grow. Your White Bianca is like White Wonder which I think mine are still alive. I have Brandywine as well and it's doing really well with new baby fruits. I plan on buying your varieties for next season. I don't want to get them too soon because I want fresh seeds at the end of this summer.

How do you manage to do all the seed saving yourself? Surely you have some helping hands around there right??

Editors note: To Carlas point on saving seed..it's a MAJOR undertaking with many family members pitching in...under my close scrutiny. Even with gloves on we have some occupational hazard issues....
