East Coast BBQ, Hottest Sauce on the PlanetHello to all fellow Chileheads and Gardeners and Welcome to new subscribers to our community. I just returned from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina on some leisure/business. I answered about 80 e-mails right away. Some I answered during my trip on a Yahoo e-mail through a laptop so if you received one of those that's what the deal is. I could be a tour guide for Myrtle Beach...I love it there. About 15 million people vacation there so if you live on the east coast or midwest I'll give you a restaurant tip. There are about 1800 restaurants there. Many good ones, maybe 2 dozen great ones in my opinion. But my very favorite is 'Umbertos' in Barefoot Landing. If you go there try the stuffed banana peppers for an appetizer (stuffed with ground sausage and smothered with homemade tomato sauce loaded with onions and garlic). The steaks are the best. Ask for the owners Bobbie and Rose (from Pittsburg) and tell them Pepper Joe sent ya. I suggest you make reservations. For those of you that don't vacation there but travel Route 95 on the East Coast check out 'Roz's Barbeque' for the Best BBQ pork in the south. You can get a buffet for $5.50 that is unbelievable. A whole pig is on it for pork pickins. I load my pickins up with Hot Pepper vinegar and Texas Pete Hot sauce. It's at exit #90 in North Carolina. This is real southern home cooking. By the way, when you go on vacation to a popular area that our community members may be interested in send me some 'HOT' tips and I'll try to list them. Going to Las Vegas, Disney world or Colonial Williamsburg? A lot of Chileheads would like to know where you find spicy stuff. Hot Sauce ========= Many people are on a quest to find the worlds hottest sauce. I used to think it was 'Daves Insanity Sauce' but one of our community of subscribers ( I think it was Scott) told me that 'Da' Bomb' was hotter. So I made a mental note to buy it. When I received my last Mo Hotta-Mo Betta catalog in I ordered it. MAN, it was almost impossible-to-beleive hot. For starters, if you try it use a toothpick to put a minuscule portion on your food. A drop can kill you. Sauces that I used to think were hot are just sissy stuff compared to this new level of hot sauce. The trick is that they use hot pepper EXTRACT, or essence of capscain to get the heat level this high. Regular Habanero sauce is mild compared to this stuff. Why even use it?
