Y2K...Disaster or non-event
===========================
I'm not even gonna PRETEND that I know the answer to this one. But
after reading a lot on the topic my family and myself have to decided
to
handle this the way that you approach insurance. You don't buy
homeowners insurance KNOWING that a tree is going to fall into your
home..or a tornado or hurricane is going to cause a lot of damage. But
it gives piece of mind knowing that if those things do happen you are
covered.
Same with Y2K.
I'm going to have flashlights, candles, matches, a battery powered
radio
and extra blankets on hand. More canned goods and bottled water than
usual. And this year we'll stay real close to home at the stroke of
midnight..actually AT home.
We intend to scrub the bathtub out with clorox and fill it with water
just in case something severe happens (which I do not think will) we'll
have plenty of water for cooking, drinking etc.
And if nothing happens..after killing the Champagne I thing I'll take a
dip in it to celebrate.
How does Y2K fit into a Chileheads newsletter?
Actually I think it does. I've ordered some of my 2000 seeds from
other
catalogs. We test market other organic seeds every year and get them
from friends, customers, other countries, chilehead networks and
occasionally from competitors.
I'll definitely order all of mine by next week just to make sure they
arrive before the New Year in case of disruptions. After all seeds
would be crucial in case of a breakdown in the food delivery
infrastructure. Again, I don't believe there will be major problems
but
it's insurance.
If you agree with this logic order your seeds early and sleep well at
nights. I have lived without electricity temporarily before and
lived..but without Hot Pepper Seeds...NO WAY!!!!!
