money. Beef Jerky is expensive and on this alone you can save a lot of money and pay for the dehydrator.. Plus when you make it yourself you can skip the chemicals and preservatives. There are many types of beef that you can use but I like a Rump Roast. This is also the primary ingredient in my famous "Spicy Sputzad" which is in my original recipe collection. Slice the rump roast thin and marinate strips in Natural Smoked Hickory Seasoning overnight. Then I add garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, salt and Hot Pepper Flakes. You can add any type of hot pepper powder or crushed hot pepper flakes that you prefer. I hand ground mine down and have many different varieties. My favorite is "Fatalli" flakes without the seeds. Anyway you are now ready to go just put beef strips into the dehydrator and let it go for several hours. Last year I did it overnight for about 12 hours but it depends on the type of beef and how thin the strips are. So just experiment until you get it right. It comes out super tasty and mine are super hot. It's 100% natural and lasts forever (as long as most of the moisture is gone) in glass jars. We take it on hikes for a shot of protein.
