Container Gardening and other hot pepper tips.


Container gardening gives virtually EVERYBODY the ability to grow and enjoy fresh hot peppers. Not only are hot peppers in containers practical but they are great landscape and accent pieces. They are great around a pool, alongside a driveway, along a garden path, on a patio, deck or porch. I need to grow container hot peppers as well for test reasons. And with the current drought they are among the healthiest, most prolific peppers that we grow out of hundreds of plants. Here are some of the advantages:

  • water conservation..the rain or water goes direct to the root zone with no runoff.
  • you can turn them occasionally to let the sun and air hit every part of the plant. Try that in the garden.
  • you can move them indoors to overwinter.
  • easy to mulch
  • give as a gift
  • move out of the sun if it's been too intense

    In the USA there are 20 million-plus balconies, 40 million decks and countless patios and porches. With all of this potential you can never grow too many hot pepper plants. They make great arrangements and super gifts put in large plastic bowls in a zillion colors. People are amazed at the variety of colors and shapes when I give them a "Hot Pepper Bouquet." When you order your next bunch of hot pepper seeds keep this in mind.

    Great web site. I have shared it with some of my friends and relatives. I just started growing peppers this year, my son introduced me to growing them in containers but I decided to put some in the ground. I am currently growing several varieties and they are doing well in my limited space. I live in a Town house in So. California. I am slowly taking over my wife's flower garden, I hope she doesn't find out. I just ordered some seeds from your catalog and will to try to keep peppers growing all year long in this mild climate. Do you think I will be successful?
