Well, okay, we think she's pregnant...

Aug 2, 1999 - © Marta Towne

Well, we have decided that Reena is indeed pregnant. All the signs are there, and hopefully, by April of 2000, we will have a new foal. She is bred to a 98% Arabian Pinto, and if the foal has color, it will eligable to be registered in the Pintabian horse Registry. For those of you who are not aware of it, this a "reletively pure strain of spotted horses developed. The are over 99% Arabian in blood!", according to an add for the Pintabian Horse Registry, Inc in a recent edition of International Arabian Horse.

Personally, I don't really like Paints or Pintos, basically, in many cases, I have found that many good characteristics have been bred out in the single minded desire for the color. I know many, many people will not agree but that is my personal opinion. This stud was chosen because of his size and personality, not the pattern of color of his body. So, if this foal is born solid, I will be just as happy. It may not be worth as much money, but as long as he has the personality and size I am looking for, his pattern does not matter.

I have never really stated my opinion of different breeds of horses. Rather, I have tried to be unbiased. And my personal opinions are not intended to be taken as a shoot down of Paints or Pintos. I am sure there are people out there who would never dream of owning anything other than a Paint or Pinto. So, write me and tell me why! I have made opinions based on what I have observed. Educate me, all you Paint and Pinto owners out there, and any other breed as well, as to why your particular breed is as wonderful as you think it is!
