Magical June...

There's something so magical about June. I decided to take a break from the usual horse training and "how-to" articles this month and concentrate instead on the meaning of this beautiful month and its history for me.

The moist, warm greenness of it is spectacular. It's warm--but not too warm. It's cool--but not too cool. It's hanging on the coattails of spring, right into the newness of summer. And (depending on where you live, of course) there's plenty of sweet green grass for your horses to graze on while you lay out in the warm sun.

And that's just a small part of June's beauty. I couldn't possibly forget the wonderful June rains and give it the credit it's due--and oh, those Heaven sent June thunderstorms! The slightly frightening lightning and the way it sends shivers up your spine. And even though the lightning is a little bit frightening, it's so much more than that. It's awe-inspiring. The complete power and beauty of it is something that can only be witnessed. And the rain that begins to pelt down on us after the lightning has started...it's as if it completely cleanses you, leaving you only your pure self, taking away any baggage or problems you may have and leaving only a happy, pulsating, joyful sparkle in the world's eye.

I believe there's something even more special about June than that. It's as if the air in Juen suddenly changes, and there are...sparkles. These sparkles are in the air in June, and you inhale them, taste them, see them. You can't possibly escape these sparkles if you can see them. I truly believe they are what give us spring fever. They remind us what life is really all about, leaving you more carefree perhaps than you've been since you were a child. They remind us of what is important and what isn't.

June gives us perfection in which to enjoy the outdoors, our loved ones, our beautiful horses, and the world. Get out there and enjoy this June!!
