Horse-Human Relationships, Part IIAllow your horse time to himself, time away from your training exercises to regroup. Horses need to breathe in between training, to be allowed to have a rest from it. This is particularly important when training for something like barrel racing or some other actual "event"-it reminds your horse that he's useful for more than just one thing. It helps keep him fresh for each time you approach the barrels, in this particular case, or whatever it is you're training him for. If he always knows what you're going to ask of him, it gets pretty difficult to teach him anything new. Since this is such a broad subject, I'll be revisiting it later. For now, working on the relationship between you and your horse only grants you even more success for whatever it is you're training him for. And it just makes the time you spend riding and training a whole lot more fun.
