As wonderfully rare and stunning as Arctic White is, he does not get top billing on the Painted Desert Farm website. He respectfully stands beneath his daddy, Airdrie Apache and Black Pretender, one of the few pure black thoroughbreds in the world. Tabasco is another fine stallion at Painted Dessert farm, with thoroughbred bloodlines tracing back to Man O? War and Quarter Horse bloodlines tracing back to Three Bars (which also included Thoroughbred blood). But from their website, one definitely gets the idea that it is Prince Stanley who is the crown jewel at Painted Desert Farm. And with good reason. He is a magnificent true black thoroughbred stallion with white legs over his knees and white on his face ? just enough white to make him eligible to also be registered as an overo Paint. He is also the grandson of the famous Secretariat.

Now that Dalene has proven she can breed thoroughbreds of color, her aim is to produce thoroughbreds of color that can also run. So far, the registered white thoroughbreds do not have a good track record at the betting window. They only have an 8.4% win average, and none have ever won a stakes race. Dalene hopes that Arctic White can improve those statistics. As she continues to introduce bloodlines such as Secretariat, Mr. Prosepector, Northern Dancer and Bold Ruler into her breeding operation, she is no doubt getting her thoroughbreds of color closer to the finish lines.
