To avoid azoturia and/or tying-up, be sure to start exercise programs slowly and increase them gradually. Give your horse plenty of time to warm-up and cool down slowly and completely when you ride. If your horse previously had a case of azoturia, and you are riding regularly, he should have at least some exercise every day. Most importantly, if you are going to give your horse a day or two off and he is used to being worked everyday, be sure to decrease the amount of feed you give him on his days off.

Till next time – Happy Riding!
