Horse Slaughter - Page 3

What can you do? Support your local equine rescue groups. Look to adoption agencies when you are looking to buy a horse. Be sure that if you sell your horse through auction, you get personal referrals from the person who is buying your horse. Be careful when donating your horse to a rescue operation - visit their facilities and get personal referrals. Geld all colts and stallions that are not producing outstanding offspring and being kept on well managed breeding farms. Do not have your mare bred because you think it would be wonderful to have a cute little foal. Adopt a PMU foal instead (see article PMU Industry). If you feel strongly about the American Horse Slaughter Prevention Act, contact your local government officials and let them know where you stand.
