There's a racing term called acey-deucy, which means uneven stirrups, popularized by Arcaro, who rode with his left (inside) iron lower than his right to achieve better balance on turns.
Upon ending his 30-year career, Arcaro said: "When a jockey retires, he becomes just another little man."
Sports Illustrated put it better, calling him "the most famous man to ride a horse since Paul Revere."
I agree.
