Some of the supposedly romantic scenes between the characters seem to drag on too long, ultimately dragging the movie down with them. An emphasis more on the shady businessman and his factory could have made Dragon Forever considerably more exciting. The music is also a little bit lame in some parts, but it does not actually detract from the movie or its pacing.
Dragon Forever is a good movie and well worth seeing, but it would serve fans better to first see some of Jackie Chan's better work, such as Drunken Master II (1994), Rumble in the Bronx (1995), Who Am I? (1998), and even his more recent comedy hit, Rush Hour (1998). Many fans will really enjoy Dragon Forever, though, and it is a good effort by Chan and everyone involved. Moviegoers that enjoyed the final fight sequence in Dragon Forever will love the fight between Chan and "The Jet" in Wheels on Meals (1984).
