Finally, if you live near the sea shore (where the salt air greatly speeds up the corrosion of everything), or if you want the extra security of a rustless nail, the way to go is stainless steel nails. Just like the stainless sink in your kitchen resists staining and corrosion, stainless steel nails resist corrosion in your outdoor building applications. They are not easy to find or cheap to buy, but they are handy to have when you want to be sure your project stays together. Stainless nails also come with a ring shank to help them hold.
