Angel Decoupage Boxes

If we look back to the Victorian era we will find some of the most unique and perhaps beautiful holiday decorations for Christmas. You see in all the department stores now that all the trees that are decorated with the new holiday ribbon and bows but there is that one unique one that touches you. It's the one with that white lace ornaments, the pink and mauve colors the baby's breath. This takes you back to all the beauty of that time in history. I wanted to give you a easy project for the holiday that would incorporate this type theme in time and also pose as a useful purpose as well.

We will be making angel decoupage boxes, these can be used to store your Christmas cards in. You perhaps have seen all the angels pictures in magazines and now you can even buy them as well just for the purpose of decoupage. We will only need a few simple things, a large square or heart-shaped paper mache box, easily found in all the craft stores, eight to ten inch one should be fine. You will need scissors, mod podge, a two-inch foam brush, and some metallic gold paint.

First paint your paper mache box inside and out with the gold paint with your foam brush, or a quicker way is to spray paint it, whichever you may choose to do. Set this aside and let it completely dry. Now cut some angel shapes that you may of found from magazines or purchased, and lay them flat on the box and place them where you wish and then take the mod podge and the foam brush {after you have cleaned it of course} and slightly put some glue on the back. Keep in mind that this glue will make a strong bond and you may want to give it a few coats to achieve a glossy look. This glue can become sticky and I recommend that you take a brown paper bad when it has completely dried and use this as a sandpaper over your box. It will work wonders.

After you have finished that step, you may want to put other things on your box, but I will leave that up to you. I have a variety of these that I have made just for this occasion and, some of them I will add a few flowers to and some I add lace. It's whatever and however you want it to look. Happy Christmas & Happy Crafting!
