Creative Picket AngelsAbout two weeks ago I made the most darling angel and, in this article I want to share with you this beautiful rendition of turning something old into a wonderful accent for your home. You may have seen old picket fences, as they seem to be everywhere nowadays, and you can even purchase the single craft ones in you local craft stores now as well, which is what I had done. When I started this project, I had no idea how I would put my own mark on it as all crafters do in their own special way. But I was quite pleased with the diligent work when I had finished it. First I want to talk about what materials you will need in making this angel. You will need a picket fence old or new, the one I used I got at my local craft store. It's approximately eighteen inches in length, and the top is rounded the same as a picket fence would be. You will also need raffia, one yard of white gathered lace three inches wide, candle ring flowers, ivy, and a few sprigs of eucalyptus, and acrylic paint in colors white, black, red, flesh, dusty mauve, stoneware blue. You will also need some excelsior for her hair, and a hot glue gun, needle and thread, scissors, and a foam brush, liner brush, and a flat brush. First base coat the picket in white with your foam brush, allow to dry, then base coat the face of your angel with your flat brush in the flesh paint, allow to dry, For the eyes you will want to make teardrop eyes, you may even draw them on with pencil first and then take your liner brush and paint them in with your black paint, add very light strokes for her eyelashes on the left sides of the eyes. With your black liner brush make a half moon stroke under her teardrop eyes. Take the end of your liner brush and dip it into the blue stoneware and make two dots in the center of her eyes, clean brush and repeat this process for her cheeks in the dusty mauve as well. Use the black paint and your liner brush to paint a thin half circle for her nose and make your angel smile to with a thin brush stroke. Now take the end of your liner brush and make two dots in the red on here mouth and give her a heart there as well by making the two dots close together and pulling down, this makes a perfect heart. Clean your liner brush and take the white paint and we will add highlights to her face now. Make a thin stroke on her eyes on the right side of each one, repeat the same process for her cheeks and make a small white dot on the left corner of the heart on her mouth.
