Country AngelsI wanted to talk about making country angels in this article, and I hope you will enjoy the particular one I have chosen this week. When we talk about country, what do we think about? Hopefully we consider my article title (Homespun) because that's what country angels are. They are the creations of crafter's who put there own signatures on these lovely originals. This time I am one of those creators and I want to share with you my theory of country in making this angel that is so dear to my heart. This is something that I originally created and I hope you too will see the charm and warmth in making this angel. First you will need a few supplies to make our country angel with. You will need a twelve-inch piece of wood, a paint stirrer could be the ideal thing for this project as well, or you may use a twelve-inch piece of wood, three inches wide and about a one fourth inch thick. You will also need some raffia, hot glue gun, some excelsior, needle and thread, poly fill fiber stuffing, some ribbons, and flowers of your color preference. You will need a piece of material about a fourth of a yard, and one yard of lace trim preferably eyelet lace trim. You will also need acrylic paint in several colors, such as flesh, black, white, red, and pale pink. You will need a two-inch foam brush, a liner brush and a round brush for this project as well. Now lets get started, first we need to base-coat the piece of wood with our foam brush with the flesh acrylic paint, give it a generous coat and allow to dry. Then take your liner brush at the end and dip into the black paint and make two dots for her eyes making sure you make them even, and round. Then make two thin strokes with your liner brush and make her eyebrows, you may also want to add ever so lightly some eyelashes very thinly strokes. For her nose make a half moon stroke with your liner brush, and proceed to her mouth and make her smile with a thin black stroke. You may also want to add a country heart to her mouth and this can be done by taking your liner brush and take the end and dip it into the red paint and make two dots close together and pull down, this makes a perfect heart. For her cheeks you will take your liner brush again and dip the end into the pale pink and make a dot on both sides of her cheeks. Now we can add highlights to her face. For her eyes make a thin stroke with the white on her black eyes and a dot of white in the center. You may use the same process on her cheeks as well. For the heart just make a white dot with your liner brush.
