If you do this I strongly suggest you "laminate" the charts so the paper does not get torn as the charts are flipped. The large office supply stores sell pages of sticky clear plastic to place on the pages, or you can use contact paper.
  • Use drawings to show each stage of the experiment.
  • Don't clutter your display with too many graphics.
  • When using photos, take note of how scrapbookers trim their photos to produce the most eye catching display. Cut out your little brother in the background. Trim away the bag of garbage in the kitchen and add some pretty edges to the photos.
  • Clear plastic can be purchased to "laminate" each of your project pieces. This will keep them from getting dirty or smudged with finger prints. If your "laminate" your work, use a satin finish, not glossy. Any models, plants, circuits or other 3D additions will only boost the power of your display. If you have a working model, be sure to test it at home many times to ensure that it will work at the fair.
  • Use accessories to enhance the look of your display. Drape some netting over a display about the ocean. Tape seed packets on a display about plants or seeds.
  • Use a table cloth that matches your backboard on the table
  • Make sure your display is balanced. There should be an equal amount of blank space on each backboard.

  • Don't leave the table space in front of your backboard empty. Use that space for models, plants or your report and journal.

  • The title of the project should be one color. Don't make each letter a different color.
  • Don't hand print anything, except for your journal.
  • Check and double check your spelling and grammar.
  • Bring a kit including, scissors, tape, markers, paper towels, backing material, extension cords, pens, pencils, stapler and staples, paint and such to do last minute repairs.
  • Don't use live animals in your display.
  • Don't include any sharp instruments like needles or knives.
  • Don't include anything that could harm the public.
  • Don't have anything hanging off of your display in a messy manner.
  • YOU ARE PART OF THE DISPLAY! Dress for the occasion. Don't wear distracting clothes or jewelry. Dress as if you are going to a wedding, graduation or Church.
