Can I Really Do All of This?

Now that you have made the decision to homeschool your Preschooler or Kindergartener and you have set the goals that you want to meet you're probably wondering "what now?". Well, the answer to that may seem like it has nothing to do with homeschooling what-so-ever. Ask any veteran homeschooling Mom and she'll tell you one of the most important things of all is to be organized!

If you're anything like me you're already groaning. My response to anyone telling me "get organized" is simply, "I have way to many things going on and children in my house to be organized." In reality, if I weren't at least somewhat organized, nothing, and I do mean nothing would ever get done. I am the do-it-all of this household, with the exception of earning the "bread". My mother constantly remarks that she has no idea how I cope with my life. She says she simply doesn't have the patience that I do. Oh that makes me giggle!

Seriously though, you need to be organized if you want to teach your small children at home. Think about all you do. My goodness, there's the dishes, the laundry, the icky toilets that little boys never put the seats down on (then again you might have sweet angelic little girls so your toilets might not be so icky), cooking, dusting, accounting, receptionist work, and everything else. You need a plan!

You need to make a list of all that you do and on what days you do it. If you find that you're doing the same things every single day then ask yourself if you could find ways to work smarter instead of harder.

Is your phone ringing off the hook? Jill Schafer Boehme from At-Home Moms has the perfect solution, an answering machine. Let the machine get it and let your family members know that you'll call them back as long as they leave you message. You are busy and to be perfectly honest, you are working.

You're going to need a day planner or a calendar or both. I use both. I have too. If I didn't have my black planner I probably wouldn't know my own name. I just use the calendar to keep track of the days my older children are out of school or have appointments or ball games. I keep track of birthdays, Holidays and school parties on the big calendar.
