Reasons Kids Like Homeschooling

© Denise Oliveri

Have you been asked if you like homeschooling lately? What is your answer? Perhaps you like sleeping in on those chilly, gray mornings! Or, maybe you like spending more time with your family. There are so many advantages to homeschooling, and some you might not have thought about. I am going to mention some of these advantages, and I bet many are familiar with your family. Your opinion is important, too. If you have something special that you like about homeschooling, I invite you to share with everyone. Just contact me at oliverid5@comcast.net with your reason.

The first reason that homeschool is great is because you can take field trips to different places and spend as much time as you want there. This is a fantastic way to get a real hands-on experience. For example, my three boys and I recently took a trip to a pumpkin patch. The field trip included a tractor hayride, a pumpkin for each child, and a poster to take home and color explaining the cycle of a pumpkin. That was really neat! But, unlike a group of children that were there at the same time, who had to leave when their teacher called them, we could stay to look around and play in the hay maze as long as we wanted. We even got to browse through a Christmas shop where they turned on a snow machine for us! We also had time to eat lunch on a big blanket with about 15 other children that are homeschooled, too. That was fun.

Another advantage to being homeschooled is that you can do things that you really like to do. For instance, if you like playing guitar, you probably have time to take guitar lessons. If you like learning about Ancient Egypt, chances are you can do that. While it is good to get a taste of all the wonderful learning adventures out there, you will probably pick a few that really interest you, and you can learn the things that fit your talents. My oldest son, Danny, really enjoys art, and he uses his talent to enter contests, give his artwork as gifts, and put lots of things on our refrigerator at home! It is nice that we have the time to let him pursue his creative side. You have interests, too. Go for it.

MORE TO COME...

We will have more reasons to like homeschooling coming very soon! Watch for Part 2 and 3!
