Kids love mail! Magazines are a great way to get homeschooled kids reading and have the added bonus of filling them up with great knowledge on many other learning areas such as nature, geography, math, etc. Here are some links to some of our family's favorite magazines for children.
First of all, it's free! Can't beat the price! But moreover, it's a great magazine full of so many fun activities, stories and games tlego-loversvers will be glued! For a free subscription to Lego Magazine, just call: 1-800-835-4386. Click and Ask are really fun and interesting magazines exposing the kids to science, nature and the environment. Click is aimed at First and Second grade-level readers. Ask if for grades 2-4. If your kids are into nature and animals, they will devour these magazines. They retail for $33.97/9 issues. These magazines (for ages preschool through elementary school) are full of stories, articles, games and adventures just for the readers in the ages and skill levels that each magazine targets. My kids received these magazines as birthday gifts and have truly loved them. Each subscription retails for about $35.97 for 12 issues. From the makers of the National Geographic Magazine comes the kids' version! This magazine has so many beautiful full-color photos, articles and exposes kids to so many fabulous areas of geography, science, culture and the environment. At $20/10 issues, this is definitely worth every penny.
Similar in price and content as National Geographic for Kids (above), Kids Discover is jam-packed with great informative articles about nature and our planet aimed at elementary-aged childen. My own children beg for both Discovery Kids and Nat'l Geographic Kids, so I am not sure they would agree that one replaces the other. For $19.95/ 10 issues, I don't mind getting them both. We have been subscribers to ZooBooks for years. Every issues focuses on a different animal or animal group. My elementary-aged children adore these books and have kept every issue in a 'library' for reference. Their grandmother also loves them and reads each issue as well! We finally stopped getting this magazine after 3 years because the issues started repeating themselves. At just over $20 for 12 issues, this is a deal, too! Go To Page: 1
