(In actuality, Isaac was doing nothing in school, and begged to be homeschooled. I had a lot of misgivings, but he did extremely well. In fact, he is bored in public school a lot of the time now, because he works ahead of the rest of the class.)

M: What did you like about homeschool?

I: It was peaceful-I could sit down and do my work, and really concentrate on it. I had the freedom to move about when I wanted to, also.

M: Why did you decide to return to high school?

I: I thought I wasn't getting enough education, and I would end up at eighteen dumb as a rock, or dumber than the public school kids.

M: Now that you've been back in high school and are on the honor roll, how would you say the two styles of education compare?

I: I think going back to public was a mistake. I hate waiting for the other students and the teacher to catch up all the time. I liked discussing things in homeschool-the public school teachers just have their opinions, and don't want to discuss anything with us. They're too pro-Democrat. I don't like the behaviorally disordered kids, because the teachers let them do things like hit the other kids, and they never get disciplined for this. If you hit them back, you get suspended.

M: How did you feel about the spiritual aspects of homeschool?

I: I loved going outdoors and enjoying a nice day. In a public school building, there are police officers to tell you you can't even go outside.

M: When you have children of your own, do you think you will homeschool them?

I: Probably.

M: Would you recommend homeschooling for people who are considering it?

I: Yes I would, because it made me feel like learning again!

This next interview is with my eldest son, Michael, who has never been homeschooled. He is in the eleventh grade in high school.

M: How do you feel about home education?

Mike: I think it's better than public school, because it's one-on-one, like tutoring.

M: Did you ever wish you would be homeschooled?

Mike: Yes! I feel it would be more challenging and more exciting than public school because of the one-on-one teaching, and your teacher knows what your strenghths and weaknesses are. Also, I would not have had to pay $50 in fees. The public school system can hold you back a grade for non-payment of fees, which I think is ridiculous. It's not based on grades, or your work.
