Happy New Year!

several times that it was not worth it to him to have the extra cash if I was not there when he got home from work. This from a man for whom the term "Power Shopper" was invented. I used to tease him and call him Imelda becaue he owns more shoes and boots that I do, probably more that most people do. He also has more clothes than I do, and God Forbid he gets into that Hunting/Fishing department at Wal-Mart without a keeper! So you can guess, I am feeling Pretty Special right about now. Isn't it funny, people who like to spend tend to marry people like me who don't give a care about possessions? Maybe they sense there's more for them to spend on themselves this way. Anyhoo, back on the track of what I was saying about beginning this New Year. The things I am going to keep from last year are the following: 1. I am going to keep the school year broken up into ten-week segments. These are really useful in giving the children some structure to work with, especially when they have a paper or project due. 2. I am going to continue taking a week off after the tenth week in order to help the kids and I switch gears in the curriculum, as well as the re-energize. I also use this time to make small changes in my teaching methods or curricula. 3. I am going to continue to use manila folders for keeping the segments of our educational process organized, also for storing and sorting materials. 4. I am hopefully not going to have to get another job this year, but if I do, I hope I can keep things more organized that I did this year. 5. I am going to continue to use easy-to-read worksheets for Jasper and Tor. 6. I am going to continue to work on my personal schedule to maintain structure to our days. It is too easy to fall into a disgraceful schedule of sleeping late and staying up late during the summer, and I try to guard against this. 7. I am going to do more field trips this year, possibly picking one day a week to travel. 8. I am going to celebrate more victories, such as Isaac learning how to borrow in subtraction, or victories such as a homeschool kid sweeping the National Spelling Bee yet
