Some theorists take the three styles and expand them even further. There is the Logical learner, the person who is good at Maths and Sciences. There is the Spatial learner, the one who is good at putting items in their order. There is the Musical learner, the person who learns best in a rhythmical manner, not necessarily in any melodic way. Then there is the Kinesthetic learner, who was mentioned above. There is the Interpersonal learner, who learns best as part of a group, nearly the opposite of the Intrapersonal learner, the one who learns best on their own. This theory delves more into personality types, and can be very useful for the teacher. Jasper is a very Intrapersonal learner, loving people and groups. My son Isaac, on the other hand, is a more Interpersonal learner, very introspective and learning best far away from others. Then there is the Myers-Briggs Inventory of Styles, The Extraversion vs. Intraversion style where the person learns best from sources and activities outside of themselves vs. ideas and activities that are mental (inside the self). There are Sensing vs. Intuition styles, sensing being factually based persons vs. imagining types. Then there are the Thinking vs. Feeling styles, persons who like to think logically vs. people who respond to what they are being taught as it pertains to their personal values. The final set is the Judging vs. Perceptive style. The judging type student likes to plan carefully, and then do exactly what they have planned. The perceptive person on the other hand, is more spontaneous, adapting to whatever comes up. Jasper is a feeling person, and I continually have to explain to him why he needs to know the specific things I am teaching him. Isaac is more of a Extravert under these guidelines, learning from sources outside of himself and constantly debating everything he learns with me. The evening news has never been so interesting before! The rub here comes in when more than one child is being educated at a time, and their styles differ dramatically. Jasper goes a lot slower, while Isaac runs right through most subjects. Jasper needs a lot of time and no distractions before he decides how to compose a paper, and then there are many editing marks on the page. Isaac is the type who thinks his work out aloud, asking many questions and developing his formulae long before
