SULPHUR

I said in last month's article that I would be writing in more detail on the remedies so far used. With Sulphur I make an exception. It hasn't been quoted in any of my previous articles, but its inclusion here follows on from Aconite, for which it compliments.

Unfortunately, Sulphur doesn't have a very good reputation in view of the fact that it's associated with people who appears to have the "I don't care less attitude" and who are not very concerned about personal hygiene. Such people may have a 'dirty' look about them even though they may have just washed, and such people are likely to wear the same clothes for days on end. Also, such people are very uncomfortable in hot weather; neither do they like it too cold. At night, because they suffer from sweaty feet, will often lie with their feet outside of the quilt because they like to feel the air getting to them. Such a state is usually the result of bad nutrition: usually eating very little and never eating properly.

Such a description as this may make you wonder how it can be similar or even compliment Aconite. People, however, requiring Sulphur can be distinguishable by a very red-face, which is usually brought on by walking - especially up hill - or any other kind of exertion, not necessarily excessive: it can be a simple matter of just walking up a flight of steps, or even just cleaning a floor.

I don't believe such people themselves are 'dirty'. I just believe that they believe that time could be better spent than worrying over what they consider to be immaterial! Many professors fall into this category. Such people are always studying or working on something important every minute of the day - and night if possible. They simply believe they haven't the time to devote to what they consider to be unimportant; they are too engrossed in what they're doing and simply want to get it finished. In addition, such people are very irritable, and this irritability is seen as a result of too much work and not enough play, so to speak. Also, such people tend to wake at around 3am, find it hard to go to sleep, and may get up. They then spend the rest of the time up and start to feel tired early morning.

The interesting point with Sulphur is that when given as part of treatment, there is a marked change for the better in their habits.
