A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE.

Homeopathic First-Aid techniques are undertaken to prevent a worsening of symptoms until an Ambulance, a Doctor, or a qualified Homeopathist arrives; or to help in the healing of ailments that are of an acute condition (short duration), and doesn't require the assistance of a qualified person.

OINTMENTS

Calendula
An excellent cream to use on clean cuts and severe grazes. Made from the Marigold, it beautifully heals injuries. However, it's not recommended for deep cuts, because it is quick acting and can close the skin up before the underlying tissue has had a chance to heal.

Hypericum
For use in healing deep cuts and wounds that are or could be infected, whilst also healing the uderlying tissue.

Hyperical
Hypericum and Calendula ointments combined - you've got the quick-acting properties of Calendula, combined with the antiseptic properties of Hypericum.

The above ointments can be bought in Boots the chemist, or any other good chemist.

HOMEOPATHIC REMEDIES

Aconite 30c*
According to Dr James Tyler Kent (1849-1916), Aconite doesn't work with everyone. "The robust, rugged, strong, who comes down suddenly with an illness that hits them hard are the ones that Aconite suit." Simply to illustrate, I was in the library the other evening, and the person sat opposite me had a streaming cold. By the time I left, my nose was running, I had aches and pains throughout my body, a chill coming on, and my throat was a little sore. I knew I was heading for a horrendous cold. As I always carry Aconite with me, I took one. I was better when I got home so I didn't take another. Next day, however, I felt unwell so took another Aconite. After that, I was absolutely fine.
A guide to taking Aconite
Take one and wait two hours. If there's an improvement in symptoms, take no more. If there's no improvement, take another one and wait another two hours. If still no improvement, you may need to choose another Remedy - either Aconite is not for you, or the symptoms have progressed beyond the help of Aconite.

Arnica 30c*
You can buy Arnica Ointment, but never, never use it on broken skin. The Ointment is best used on bruising.
The Remedy (tablets) is excellent for helping to heal bruising, and in any injury where bleeding occurs because it can help to stem its flow. In fact, it should be the first thing you take when you have any kind of accident, as it helps to reduce shock, ease pain - especially when there are muscle injuries (which could also be due to over exertion) - reduce swelling, and helps to begin the healing process. Excellent too if you are facing a surgical operation or about to have a tooth out - take one before and one after.
