5. This is the most important tip of all. Ignore all of the above. Have fun while recording. Don’t get too bogged down with technique and rules. Make your own. There are no rules here that can’t be broken or rewritten. Your recording is your recording. Do it the way you want to. Learn from your own mistakes. Everything you read here and in the future is only to help you create your own rules.

So that’s that. We’ll discuss tips on mike placement and recording various instruments in later articles. Have fun! Enjoying the process supercedes all the tips above and any others we learn along the way.
