STEPS TO A HOUSEHOLD BUDGET

a week (probably on Buffy the Vampire Slayer night). Plan that into your food budget. Don't ignore it or it makes the whole budget process worthless.

Once you have a reasonable amount planned for your monthly food budget, move on to the extra items.

I have two dogs and two cats, therefore, I have to plan for their food and their care as well. They are in my family, therefore, they are in my budget. Think about the little things like haircut, growing kids who need new socks and shoes, car maintenance, gas for the car, etc, etc, etc and I think you get the picture.

Don't leave things out and don't be afraid to plan for life. You can literally set aside $5 a week or a month for some things while others require more.

Won't it be nice when these things come up and you have the funds to pay for them without taking from that month's grocery money?

The Most Important Part of Your Budget

There is one secret to any budget. It is the most important aspect and the most difficult thing to guarantee your budget will succeed. It is sticking with the budget. Life is full of tempting items that we all want to conspicuously consume. At the same time, life is full of surprises. If you spend more effort on sticking with the plans of the budget, you will be better able to handle the surprises.

StickToItTiveNess, that's the secret to a successful budget.

Pay Your Number One Bill

I have added a whole new section of links. These links are some very good sites to help you build your budget and keep it going. Once you get the basics down, you will be amazed at how fast your funds can start adding up for the down payment to purchase a home. Remember, pay yourself first. You are your most important creditor.
