Here is a naturally handy web site. The Natural Handyman web page is a wealth of information. In fact they describe the page as a “feast of home repair help, humor, and encouragement.”
The page is officially run by a professional handyman but the page sure looks like he gets a lot of help. The main page posts some timely articles down a center column. These will often include articles that relate to projects for the season and what may be occurring at the time. For example, this column currently has an article about how to properly present your US flag, and how to prepare your home for winter. What I liked most was the link on the right-hand side of the home page labeled, “Home Repair Articles.” Once you click on this link you are given the option to either search for a particular project, or view a drop down list of subjects that are covered in their database. I viewed several articles to see if they had some good material and they certainly do. One great example was the article on wood finishing or refinishing. I appreciated the fact that they start with the assumption that you may be doing this for the very first time. In this article they tell you what materials you need and why, and the steps for a nicely done project. In addition to the article index they also have a search feature which gives you the option to choose which portion of the website you would like to search. A secondary portion to the site is their Q&A database. This is a part that is constantly changing, or at least has the ability to do so. The Natural Handyman receives a number of emails from their readers asking for specific assistance. The Natural Handyman is adding these responses to this site for all of us to read. If you search this portion and do not find what you need, you can send them a question directly. As a test of the search feature, I searched for “refinish” in the entire website. It came up with a large number of questions that gave me a lot of ideas for some possible future projects. I was also impressed that most articles and Q&A responses included links that were appropriate to the subject. These guys are not here to sell you much of anything. They are really just here to help. And one side point is that if you can’t do the job yourself, or are just not interested in getting that dirty, they will help you find a handyman who can do it for you. Go To Page: 1 2
