OK, ok. I know that I'm a little early on this. Maybe even a lot early. But in the past I've always been one of those people who ends up scrambling on the 23rd of December to throw up some decorations. This year I decided to start a little earlier.
This was good for a number of reasons. First, I was able to pick my day and was able to catch one when it was still a little warm. Second, I could pace my decorating purchases and spread out the cost a bit. I also got good selection. Now is a great time to start woking on some decorations that tie into Christmas and Thanksgiving together. Or Thanksgiving and Hanukkah. Some Fall colored wreaths may be just perfect on your door. If you are going to have family over for Thanksgiving you may want to consider getting your Christmas lights up now so everyone can enjoy them when they show up. Thats kind of what I did. I decided to get some of my lights up now. Boy am I glad I did. In the first place I didn't have enough. At least I didn't have to worry about the store running out since I started this early. Second, I was looking for a different way to get the lights mounted. And I found the greatest thing. They come under different brand names but essentially what it is, is a piece of velcro and a clip. The velcro has a sticky side that you stick to the side of your house. You can get it off easily enough yourself, but on its own it will stay. The other side of the velcro is the backside of a plastic clip. You wiggle the clip into the velcro so you know that you have a good hold. Then you use the clip to hold up the lights. I kind of like this better than putting nails into the outside of my home. I tested them this weekend and we had a really good wind last night and none of the clips budged. So far I have been very happy with them. I found mine at Wal-Mart. I'll look and see what brand names I can find and get those to you. Happy decorating. Go To Page: 1
