Garage News

Sorry that this article is a little late but I was working on some other stuff and found something that I think is kind of exciting concerning new garages. I had been working off some prices that had been quotes to me on a couple of different web sites that to have a garage put in it would be pretty spendy. In relation to the cost of putting up a carport I have found this to not be true. When you consider that a carport is going to require you putting down some sort of base and then doing a lot of work yourself not to mention the $1000+ cost of the materials you are probably getting upwards around at least $2000 to $3000. I have found several garage and storage shad companies that will do a 20ft X 20ft 2 car garage for around $7500. Now I realize that this is possibly more than double the cost of a carport but consider the difference. A carport is not going to be lockable. It is not going to be fully enclosed by definition and usually by city building codes. You are therefore not going to be able to insulate anything. You are mainly looking at just a place to park cars and maybe do a covered picnic, and you usually have to do the work yourself. The garage package is installed onsite for you. Some of these companies will even get the permits for you. They include the concrete pad, the garage itself, a side door, the overhead door, warranteed siding and roofing. Basically the only thing you need to do is the driveway. Not a bad deal for $7500 in my mind. The companies that I have found that work in this price range are Tuff Shed, Budget Garages, Republic Garages, and Anderson Buildings. I would strongly recommend that you contact some of the local garage construction companies in your area. You may find that if you share these numbers with them that they will beat the prices in order to get the business. Let us know if you decide to go this way so we can learn from your experience.
