Dog Urine ProblemsIf you are like me, you have worked hard to have a nice looking lawn and are working just as hard to keep it that way. But I have a problem. We have a dog that the family adores and we are not going to be getting rid of the dog anytime soon. You probably know where I am going with this. The dog and lawn have a love hate relationship. The dog loves the lawn and the lawn hates the dog. The landmines that the dog leaves is one thing, but I can deal with that. The bigger problem is the urine killing the grass. We are developing a patchwork of yellow spots in the grass. I have been looking for different options for dealing with this. I know that there are pills for sale on the market that are suppose to deal with the make-up of the dog's urine so it is now so detremental to the grass, but I was hoping to find something more home-made. One suggestion I received was a combination of lawn application and dog treatment. The idea goes like this. Apply gypsum to your grass. I guess this helps to fortify the grass. Then start feeding your dog vitamin C. This helps to neutralize the nitrogen in the urine. Another suggestion was to feed your dog tomato juice. I guess this is suppose to neutralize the nitrogen as well. I am sure we have a number of readers out there with lawns and dogs. I would like to hear your suggestions on what you have done or tried in order to address this issue.
